NS teachers to protest as government plans to impose new contract
(CP) - Schools will be shut down throughout Nova Scotia today as teachers hold the first strike in their union's 122-year history.
The Nova Scotia Teachers Union is protesting the provincial government's plans to impose a four-year contract on their 93-hundred members.
The Liberals are expected to continue pushing Bill 75 through the legislature on Friday, February 17th.
Teachers told legislators yesterday that problems ranging from student violence to the neglect of students with disabilities will worsen if the bill passes.
