Province investigating after Tetagouche River turns brown for several hours

The provincial government is investigating what caused a river in northern New Brunswick to turn brown over the weekend.

Several witnesses reported what appeared to be mud-coloured sediment in the Tetagouche River near Bathurst on Saturday.

The river ran brown for several hours before returning to its normal colour.

Department of Environment and Local Government's Erika Jutras says the province is aware of the situation and is looking into the cause.
