Work continues on landfill power generation contract, commission says
The Chaleur Regional Service Commission's plan to convert methane gas at the Red Pine Landfill could soon come to fruition.
But, the commission's executive director, Jocelyne Hachey, says work can't begin on the project until a formal agreement is reached with NB Power.
She says that agreement is currently being worked on.
A special generator will be purchased to convert the gas to power so that it can be sold into the utility's power grid, but Solid Waste Director Stephanie Doucet-Landry says the equipment can't be purchased until a purchase agreement is signed.
