$1M in federal dollars could be destined for airport on Acadian Peninsula
The Acadian Peninsula Airport in Bertrand could soon see over $1 million of federal money.
Tracadie Mayor Denis Losier tells the Acadie-Nouvell that Acadie-Bathurst MP Serge Cormier mentioned the possibility of an almost $1.2 million investment at a recent meeting of the Acadian Peninsula Service Commission.
Commission Communications Manager Cedric Landry says there have been recent discussions on the matter but that nothing has been confirmed yet.
The commission has wanted to renovate the terminal building and extend the runway for several years.
Though the airport isn't a hub for international travel, it does play an important role in the region.
The facility is primarily used by private pilots and air ambulances transporting patients between regions.
