245 New Brunswickers out of work after two call centres shut down

Hundreds of workers in two communities in the province have no jobs to return to this morning.

The doors are locked at the S & P Data call centres in Saint John and Edmunston, where a total of 245 people have been laid off  as of Friday.

Saint John-East Conservative MLA  Glen Savoie  tells CTV news, the company lost a major contract it was counting on. Savoie says it's hoped the layoffs can be reversed if the company secures new contracts.

Government officials say there are plans to hold a job fair soon  to try and match people who have just lost their jobs, with vacancies in other  I-T and call centres in the greater Saint John area.
