$5.5 million announced for cycling trails linking Acadian Peninsula communities
The federal and provincial governments are splitting the cost to develop bike trails to link the communities of Tracadie-Sheila, Shippagan, and Caraquet.
A press release from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) says the 37.6 kilometres of bike trails will cost nearly $5.5 million.
The funding was announced Thursday by Acadie-Bathurst MP Serge Cormier, Shippagan-Lamèque-Miscou Wilfred Rousell, and Ernest Ferguson, President of Véloroute de la Péninsule Acadienne Inc.
ACOA says the trails will expand recreational opportunities for residents while positioning the region as an excellent destination for cycling enthusiasts.
