900,000 people order free passes to national parks

(CP) - Parks Canada is gearing up for a busy year.

More than 900,000 people have ordered free passes to national parks since they became available last month as part of Canada's year-long 150th anniversary celebration.

Parks Canada spokesman Ed Jager says the number of maintenance crews have been increased to ensure facilities will be kept in top shape.

Parks Canada is also trying to take some heat off of more popular parks by promoting other, less-visited destinations.
