Acadie-Bathurst Titan blanks Phoenix to take 3 - 0 series lead

The Acadie-Bathurst Titan is just one game away from a second-round QMJHL playoff sweep.

On Tuesday netminder Evan Fitzpatrick recorded his first post-season shut-out in the Titan's 5 - 0 win over the Sherbrooke Phoenix.

German Rubtsov found the back of Sherbrooke's net twice while Marc-Andre LeCouffe, Jeff Viel, and Mitchell Balmas chipped in with a goal-a-piece.

Elijah Francis notched two assists while Justin Ducharme recorded two.

Rubtsov, Francis, and Fitzpatrick were named First, Second, and Third Stars of the Game respectively.

The Titan has a chance to sweep the second-round series Wednesday night in Sherbrooke.

Elsewhere in Q-League playoff action, the Armada downed Moncton 7 - 1 to take a 3 - 0 series lead while Charlottetown leads its best-of-seven against Halifax following a 5 - 2 victory.

Moncton will try to stave off elimination Wednesday when it hosts the Armada.

Charlottetown will try to advance to round three of the playoffs as it hosts Halifax.

Both of those games go Wednesday night.

Game 4 between Victoriaville and Drummondville goes Friday, with the Tigers leading that series 2 - 1.
