Acadie-Bathurst Titan owners pleased with President Cup victory

As the Acadie-Bathurst Titan prepares for its game on Saturday against the Swift Current Broncos at the Memorial Cup, the club's owners are surprised at how quickly they won the QMJHL championships.

Club president Serge Theriault tells the Northern Light that when 30 regional investors bought the Titan in 2013 and began a rebuilding process they wished for a competitive team that would be a contender for the cup.

Theriault gives much credit to general manager Sylvain Couturier who, not only sourced good players, but players who were a good fit for the team.

Game tickets sold out for the last six playoff games and Theriault says fans seemed to enjoy themselves, something he hopes will help put fans in seats next season.

Fan attendance averaged just 1,700 each game, a far cry from the 2,500 Theriault says are required to be what he calls a 'solid franchise'.
