Additional charges laid against Moncton man following two collisions
Police say a 34-year-old Moncton man is now facing 6 charges in connection with two collisions that occurred in Cocagne and on Highway 15 near Lakeville last week.
Officers responded shortly before 5:00 p.m. on June 30 to the scene of a collision near the Cocagne Marina where a car had rear-ended another and then fled.
RCMP say they were called to a second collision around 15 minutes later that a car of the same description had been involved in a second collision.
Police say in the second incident the suspect's car went off the road and into the ditch and the driver fled on foot before he was arrested nearby on Highway 15.
Mathieu Joseph Paul Leger was initially charged with driving while prohibited, but RCMP say 5 additional charges, including utter threats, resisting arrest, breach of probation, failing to provide a breath sample and failing to stop at the scene of a collision were laid against him on Wednesday.
Leger remains in custody and is due back in Moncton Provincial Court on July 15.
