Agricultural Alliance of N.B.: more women entering farming field than before
The Agricultural Alliance of New Brunswick says more women are identifying as farmers than ever before.
Christian Michaud, president of the organization, says women now outnumber men in post-secondary agricultural and natural science faculties.
He says that is starting to increase the number of women running farms, often in niche agricultural areas or in value-added products.
Michaud says many of the young women entering the field see the importance of strengthening their local economy and creating a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
