Application dates announced for regular Crown reserve angling
The Department of Energy and Resource Development has announced this year's dates for anglers to apply to fish regular Crown reserve waters.
Regular Crown reserve is comprised of 20 prime salmon stretches on both the Miramichi and Restigouche river systems.
The province says angling parties that are successful in the draw will have access to their stretch for two angling days, including the use of a fishing camp that is included at no additional cost with 16 of the stretches.
Anglers will be able to apply between Monday February 4 and Friday March 1 to fish the waters, with the results available online March 25.
Last year 411 of the 603 draw applications were successful, resulting in 1,427 anglers, in parties of two or four, able to fish in Crown waters.
The government says regular Crown reserve stretches are available from June 10 to September 15, while the daily and live release Crown reserves are available from June 1 to September 15, though there are some exceptions to these dates depending on the stretch of water.
The booking period for unsuccessful applicants in the regular Crown reserve draw is May 13-26, with the first come, first-served open booking period will be from June 3 to September 15.
The Department of Energy says anglers must obtain an Outdoors Card number to apply for a Crown reserve draw or to purchase an angling licence.
The card is available through a free registration process that may be completed online, at participating licence vendors, or at Service New Brunswick centres, while Crown reserve applications may be submitted online or by contacting and district office.
