The next phase of 5th Canadian Division Support Group's annual vegetation management program is scheduled to begin on Monday July 15th.

According to a Canadian Forces press release, aerial and ground herbicide application will occur until August 31, but operations will only be given the go ahead if weather permits.

All the areas that are being treated are located within the boundaries of Base Gagetown, and spraying will only continue for as many days as needed to treat the targeted area.

The military says the vegetation management program involves controlled burning, manual and mechanical cutting, herbicide application and re-vegetation, to ensure the sustainability of natural resources while meeting current operational and training needs.

5th Canadian Division Support Group says it is committed to applying environmental stewardship in all operations and providing the necessary tools for Canada's soldiers to train as realistically as possible.
