Attempts to relocate beluga whale from Nepisiguit River to be made this week

A young beluga whale that somehow made its way up the Nepisiguit River will soon be back where it belongs.

Marine Animal Response Society's Tonya Wimmer says an attempt will be made this week to capture the wale and release it in its summer habitat in the St. Lawrence Estuary.

During transportation, s team of veterinarians will take care of the animal with the help of specialized equipment from the Vancouver Aquarium and Shedd Aquarium in Chicago.

A satellite tag will be fitted to the beluga so scientists can follow up on its progress.
