Bankruptcy numbers in New Brunswick continue to rise
Personal bankruptcy numbers are up in New Brunswick for the fifth consecutive year.
Figures for 2016 show more than 4,400 New Brunswickers filed for bankruptcy or special creditor payment plans--that's up 2.6 per cent from 2009.
Financial counsellors say there's less stigma surrounding bankruptcy than in the past and that debt-ridden university graduates and retirees, whose lifestyle are not in-line with their reduced income, are declaring insolvency more often.
