Bathurst and province team up to tackle street upgrade project
Some major work will take place on parts of Dumaresq St., Bridge Street, and Murray Ave. in Bathurst this summer.
Director of Engineering Services, Matthew Abernethy says the joint project between the city and province will include rebuilds to water and sewer mains, work to the storm system and paving.
Abernethy says the city will be responsible for work to water, sewer, and storm systems while paving, drainage, and aggregates will be the responsibility of the province.
The affected areas will be Dumaresq St., Bridge Street, and Murray Ave. from King Ave. to Main Street.
The $1.6 million tender was awarded to Kenny's Trucking Ltd on Monday night.
Work is expected to begin mid July and wrap up mid November.
The province is involved in the project because some of the streets are provincially designated highways.
