Bathurst approves 2019 budget

Bathurst council has officially passed a balanced budget with no tax increase for 2019.

The $24.8 million budget includes a little over $5 million for police services and around $3.5 million for fire services.

$1.1 million has been earmarked for snow removal, a $250,000 increase over last year.

Water and sewer rates are up slightly, but city treasurer Sonia Gauvin says they'll help maintain the quality of water and adds they're still among the lowest rates among New Brunswick cities.
