Bathurst gives up fight to have artificial ice rink components replaced
The City of Bathurst has thrown in the towel when it comes to its controversial artificial ice rink.
A California company was to replace some pieces that broke during its installation but its representative has been difficult to reach due to serious health issues.
Now mayor Paolo Fongemie says the pieces will go to the KC Irving Centre to potentially be used by youth to train during spring and summer.
The rink cost approximately $116,000 with $100,000 reimbursed via a provincial grant.
Fongemie says the city will not have to reimburse the province the $100,000.
