Bathurst man facing child pornography charges

A 41-year-old man from Bathurst is facing one count each of possessing and making available child pornography.

Jason Devereaux was charged on Thursday stemming from an investigation into images of child sexual abuse began in January 2017 by the RCMP's Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit.

A search warrant was executed at a Bathurst home last November, with a number of electronic devices being seized and an arrest made.

RCMP say Devereaux is currently in custody on an unrelated matter, and is scheduled back in court in connection with the child pornography charges on December 3rd.

The ICE Unit includes members from the Saint John and Kennebecasis Regional Police Forces, and were joined in the investigation by the RCMP's Technological Crime Unit and Bathurst Police Force.
