Bathurst McDonald's restaurant among top in Canada for 'McHappy Day'
A Bathurst restaurant is one of the top in the country when it comes to a national fundraising initiative.
On Wednesday, McDonald's on St. Peter Ave. raised more than $30,000 for its annual McHappy Day event, ranking it first among over 100 stores in Atlantic Canada and eighth among more than 1,400 restaurants coast-to-coast.
Owner Ron McLellan says it was his store's best McHappy Day ever and attributes its success to the dedication of his employees and the generosity of the people in the Chaleur region.
Money raised by McHappy Day goes to support Ronald McDonald Houses and local children's charities.
McLellan says, some of the funds will go support initiatives by the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation and help with the construction of a new Ronald McDonald House in the Halifax area.
He says most of the guests who stay at the Ronald McDonald house are from New Brunswick.
McLellan says he's proud of the support the initiative has received from his staff as well as guests.
The national initiative raised more than $6 million.
