Bathurst Police Force dispels false information concerning dogs in vehicles shared on social media
If you're a Facebook user, you may have noticed a recent post making the rounds saying citizens have been given the green light by police to break a car window if a dog is trapped inside on a hot summer day.
The Bathurst Police Force says the post false and that anybody who does so could be charged with mischief.
The force says the best practice is to call police with the location of the vehicle, license plate number, and how long you witnessed the dog being left in the vehicle.
The department says pet owners should take note of the outside temperature and think twice before bringing their fury companions shopping.
