Bathurst Police Force rolls out new initiative aimed at reducing distracted driving
The Bathurst Police Force is getting help from citizens on cracking down on distracted driving.
Under the new Citizens Against Districted Driving initiative, or CADD, citizens who spot motorists using their electronic devices can e-mail police who will then send a letter to the owner of the vehicle notifying them of the offence.
The department says those who use their devices while behind the wheel may be able to avoid being seen by police due to their high visibility, but with this program others will be watching too.
It says distracted drivers need to realize that most who share the road with them take this safety issue seriously, not just police.
