Bathurst Police Force warns of recent telephone scam
The Bathurst Police Force is warning citizens of a recent scam making the rounds.
The force says several citizens have complained of messages appearing to be from the Canada Revenue Agency saying they owe money and being threatened with arrest if they don't pay.
The telephone number showing up on call display is the actual number for the CRA and the message asks citizens to 'press 1' to deal with the matter.
But the force warns it's a scam and citizens should not press '1' or provide any personal information over the phone.
Anyone doubting the validity of such a call is asked to contact the Canada Revenue Office.
