Bathurst Regional Airport marks 50th anniversary

Much has changed for the Bathurst Regional Airport in the last 50 years.

Executive Director Jennifer Henry says it first opened in the Parkwood Heights area following World War II and was used mainly by members of the Canadian Air Force who wished to take to the skies again.

Since then, it has moved to its current location on Route 180 in South Tetagouche, offers flights to businesses and passengers from the Chaleur region and surrounding areas and is undergoing a multimillion dollar expansion to its terminal building and runway.

The Northern New Brunswick Airport Authority will mark its anniversary at the Atlantic Host this evening.
