Bathurst swimmer cracks top ten at university nationals

A Bathurst swimmer cracked the top ten at the U-Sports Swimming National Championships in Toronto last week.

18 year old Jasmine Foran placed seventh in the 50 metre breaststroke for the Memorial University Sea Hawks of Saint Johns, Newfoundland.

Though Foran was battling a painful leg injury at the time, she managed to place in the top twenty of all her other races:

  • 19th in the 200m breaststroke;
  • 17th in the 400m free relay;
  • 16th in the 800m free relay;
  • 16th in the 400m medley;
  • 11th in the 100m breaststroke.

Foran is a rookie on the university swimming scene and says she feels great about her performance that saw her hit the pool with some of the top athletes in the country.

Foran broke several provincial records while competing as a part of the Bathurst BLAST swim team.
