BHS music department wants to lock you up to raise funds

Forget selling magazine subscriptions and chocolate bars!

Raising money for Bathurst High School's Music Department is as simple as locking you up and making you solve puzzles and other challenges in order to escape.

That's the idea behind the Chaleur region's first ever 'Escape Room'.

Music teacher Jeff MacQuarrie says the student-run initiative will run until November 26th.

MacQuarrie says if all goes well, additional themes, puzzles, and challenges could be created for future Escape Room events.

He says the department had been looking for fresh fund-raising ideas that had not been attempted in the community before.

He says some students had attended Escape Rooms events elsewhere and thought they could become popular in Bathurst as well.
