Brawl between university hockey teams in Wolfville, N.S., prompts investigation

The body that oversees university athletics in Atlantic Canada is investigating after a fight erupted between two Nova Scotia hockey teams on Saturday night.

A recap on the website for Acadia University's athletic department says the fight happened last night during a game at the school in Wolfville, N.S.

The recap says five players for the Acadia Axemen, eight members of the St. Francis Xavier University X-Men and both head coaches were ejected from the game.

It's unclear if there were any injuries, but videos posted to social media show players on both teams hurling profanities, striking each other, and grabbing each other's jerseys.

In an interview, Atlantic University Sport executive director Phil Currie says the association is taking the incident ``very seriously.''

He says the matter has been handed to the AUS men's hockey commissioner for an investigation.
