Cambellton Tigers sold to group of local investors

Campbellton has sold its Junior A hockey franchise to a group of local investors.

Mayor Stephanie Anglehart-Paulin made the announcement on Friday.

The Campbellton Tigers' new group of owners includes Atholville Canadian Tire store owner Pierre Girard and Mark Catroppa, co-founder of Zenabis and Monarak Group.

The new owners plan to keep the teams name and say it will remain in the Restigouche Region.

Girard says his goal is to see the team grow and to put on a good show for local hockey fans.

The transaction is expected to save Campbellton around $50,000 a year.
