Campbellton Nursing Home placed in trust

The provincial government has dismissed the board of directors of a New Brunswick nursing home and has appointed a trustee to oversee its operations.

The 100-bed Campbellton Nursing Home had been struggling with issues like staffing ratios, recruitment, occupancy rates, and budget pressures for several years.

Social Development Minister Dorothy Shephard says says her department tried to worker with the former board for quite some time, however their concerns have not been adequately addressed.

But Shephard adds font-line employees have continued to provide high-quality care for residents.

Retired lawyer and former provincial deputy minister Tom Mann is the trustee and will oversee operations effective immediately for up to twelve months.
