Canada 150 an opportunity to discuss resilience of First Nations people, local artist says

Though some indigenous people are boycotting Canada 150 celebrations, an artist from Pabineau First Nation sees the celebrations as an opportunity to celebrate confederation along with the resilience of First Nations people.

Phyllis Grant is one of just 150 people appointed ambassador for the celebrations including Rick Mercer, Heather Rankin and Roberta Bondar.

She says that being selected is an opportunity to share her thoughts about what the future relationship between Canada and indigenous people could look like.

Throughout 2017 Grant will travel to, and speak at signature Canada 150 events while sharing her art work.
