Canada's top judge to review the Canadian Judicial Council
Canada's top judge is about to launch a review of the body that handles complaints about federally appointed judges.
Chief Justice Richard Wagner says the Canadian Judicial Council needs both internal and legislative reform.
Wagner tells The Canadian Press that the current disciplinary process is too cumbersome, lengthy and expensive.
He also says a parallel review of ethical guidance for judges aims to keep the judiciary relevant.
The judicial council has recently come under fierce criticism for some of its actions.
Wagner says all aspects of the council, its processes and structure, are on the table.
