Canadian Red Cross hopes to add new immigrants to its volunteer roster on Acadian Peninsula

The Canadian Red Cross, the NBEMO and the Committee to Welcome, Integrate and Settle Newcomers to the Acadian Peninsula are holding a free information session Monday night.

In a press release, the Red Cross says the meeting will educate new arrivals about household preparedness for disasters and emergencies, as well as encouraging recent immigrants to consider volunteering with the Red Cross.

The Acadian Peninsula has been impacted by recent ice storms, flooding and prolonged power outages affecting wide areas, and smaller-scale events like house and apartment fires that affect only a few people.

The session is set for Monday December 3 at the Université de Moncton satellite campus at 218 boulevard J. D. Gauthier in Shippagan.
