CannabisNB ready to open for business

With recreational cannabis set to become legal next week, New Brunswick's marijuana retailer says it's ready to open for business.

CannabisNB CEO Brian Harriman says stores will open as planned next Wednesday and that the company expects sales of approximately $45 million in its first fiscal year ending in March.

Harriman tells CBC he expects CannabisNB to either break even or post a slight loss because of the short fiscal year coupled with start-up and operational costs.

But Harriman says the province isn't looking at recreational pot as a financial opportunity.

He says the new industry is meant to help shrink the illegal market, regulate and control the product, as well as protect young people.
