Chaleur Chamber of Commerce welcomes new faces to its Board of Directors
The Chaleur Chamber of Commerce is welcoming new faces to its Board of Directors.
The Chamber, formerly known as the Greater Bathurst Chamber of Commerce, held its annual general meeting last Thursday.
Michael Petrovici, Francis Boudreau, Marie-Christine Roy , Paul Fournier, and Mallory Killoran were each named to their first term as Board members.
Jessica Poirier, who was elected for a second term, was also elected as Chamber President, replacing the outgoing Bob Lennon.
Joining Poirier on the Chamber's Executive as vice-presidents are Petrovici and Mike Goyette.
Pat Levesque returns as treasurer.
Levesque says the Chamber's annual financial report is not a true indication of the organization's fiscal performance.
The Chamber reports a net loss of $3,000 but Levesque says the Chamber knew it would be generating less revenue this past year without the profitable El Vino event.
In fact, Levesque says, with the prudent cost-cutting measures the Chamber undertook this past year, it would have turned a healthy profit if not for the decision to wipe the slate clean of $14,000 of bad debt, primarily from unpaid membership fees.
Levesque says they bit the bullet this year and did it all at once so the Chamber can start its new fiscal year fresh out of the gate.
