Chaleur Community Inclusion Network invests in local Dial-a-Ride initiative
The Chaleur Transportation Cooperative is a step closer to its goal of provided safe, reliable, accessible, and affordable transportation to the people of the Chaleur region.
On Monday, February 13th, the Chaleur Community Inclusion Network presented the group with $50,000 to help with its initiatives like the Dial-a-Ride program expected to launch this fall.
Chaleur Community Inclusion Network coordinator July Synnott says transportation is one of the largest hurdles faced by residents of the region and that's why it was important for her group to become a partner in the initiative.
CTC's James Mallory says the cooperative expects to launch its Facebook and Twitter pages within the coming weeks as well as a campaign aimed at recruiting volunteer drivers.
He says there are approximately 12 Dial-a-Ride programs in New Brunswick, including one on the Acadian Peninsula, that have been operating quite successfully.
