Chaleur Region M.L.A.s interested in seeking leadership of N.B. Liberal party

Two Chaleur Region MLAs have expressed interest in running for the leadership of the province's Liberal party.

Bathurst-West-Beresford MLA Brian Kenny says he's undecided but that it's something he's considering, adding he's received lots of encouragement from his constituents.

Meanwhile, Bathurst-East-Nepisiguit-Saint-Isidore MLA Denis Landry says he has the support and the skills to take over as Liberal leader on an interim basis.

Brian Gallant had announced he would step down as leader after he failed to win the confidence of the Legislature following the last provincial election.

Gallant then announced he would leave the job sooner than expected, saying the Liberal party needed to move on.

There's still no date for a leadership convention, but that will likely take place sometime in the spring.
