Chaleur Regional Service Commission considers options for recycling

The Chaleur Regional Service Commission is weighing its options when it comes to shipping recyclables from its landfill in Allardville to a facility in Quebec.

Environment manager Jonathan Plourde is recommending the status-quo, which involves trucking recyclables to Riviere-du-Loup.

That cost approximately $197,000 for 207 trips in 2017.

The other two options, Plourde says, are more expensive and would require about a $300,000 capital investment.

The commission will float the idea of chipping in with the Restigouche Regional Service Commission to save on tipping costs at a future meeting.
