Charges laid in Alberta toddler's death

Police say a toddler found dead outside an Edmonton church last week lived a terrible life that was full of violence.

A passerby found the body of 19-month-old Anthony Joseph Raine outside the Good Shepherd Anglican Church in Edmonton on Friday.

Police believe he had been dumped there three days earlier.

He was covered in bruises and was horribly abused before he was killed by a blow to the head.

The toddler's 26-year-old father, Joey Crier, and his 25-year-old girlfriend, Tasha Mack, have been charged with second-degree murder and other charges.

Staff Sergeant Duane Hunter says a motive for the killing isn't known, and says the family had not been involved with social services or police before.
