Citizens call on Attorney General to order Bathurst police officers to trial for shooting death
An on-line petition has been launched by a group of citizens calling on the province's Attorney General to order two Bathurst police officers to stand trial for the death of Tracadie business man Michel Vienneau.
51 year old Vienneau was fatally shot near Bathurst's train station as part of a police drug investigation in January of 2015.
An investigation conducted by the Nova Scotia RCMP later revealed Vienneau was not involved in any criminal activity.
A judge ruled earlier this month that there was not enough evidence to order a trial for Constables Patrick Bulger and Mathieu Boudreau.
The petition has garnered more than 500 supporters since being launched on Sunday.
