Complainant in sex assault case says guilty verdict proves victims are taken seriously
A Caraquet judge found an Acadian Peninsula man guilty Wednesday of sexually assaulting a woman when she was between the ages of six and ten.
David Murphy will be sentenced on February 7th.
The complainant, Roxanne Roy, had reported the incidents to authorities back in 2007, but alleges she was told there was not enough evidence to lay charges.
Roy told reporters yesterday that the verdict proves the justice system does take victims seriously and hopes more women come forward.
