Contract awarded to study idea of single police force for Chaleur region
Is it time for the Chaleur region to move to one single police force?
The Chaleur Regional Service Commission thinks it might be and has awarded a contract to Catalyst Consulting Engineering Inc. to study the matter.
The region is currently policed by three forces: the Bathurst Police Force, BNPP, and RCMP and the idea of a regional force has been on the minds of municipal leaders for quite some time.
Results of the study are expected to be forwarded to the Commission and its policing committee sometime in November.
