Dalhousie man admits to a number of offences after he escaped prison

A Dalhousie man has pleaded guilty to a number of violent offences he committed when he escaped Dorchester Penitentiary nearly a year ago.

On Monday, January 9th, 29 year old Jeffrey MacLean admitted to beating and robbing individuals in Dorchester and Memramcook, stealing a vehicle, and stealing from a liquor store.

He also pleaded guilty to charges in the Fredericton area, including robbing a woman with a bad, assaulting a man with a vehicle and theft from a hardware store.

MacLean was arrested after leading Fredericton police on a chase when he crashed into a pair of police cruisers.

He is currently serving a nine year sentence for a pair of armed robberies:  one in Balmoral, the other at a club in Dalhousie where he threatened to cut off the hand of an employee with a machete.

MacLean will be sentenced on Monday, February 13th.
