Deadline to report flood damage tomorrow

New Brunswick residents affected by flash flooding two weeks ago are encouraged to report any damage to their property.

On January 24, heavy rain caused flash flooding, especially in the Saint John area and forced the evacuation of a number of residents in Sussex.

The Department of Public Safety's Emergency Measures Organization needs the information so the province can assess how bad the flooding actually was.

Damage must be reported by calling Service New Brunswick at 1-888-298-8555 or by visiting the Emergency Measures Organization's website by clicking here.

Presently, the information will be used for assessment purposes only, and does not mean an financial assistance is being offered.

Instead, residents should contact their insurance company immediately to determine if any damage incurred is covered under their policy.

The deadline to report damages is tomorrow, Friday February 8, 2019.
