Death of northern N.B. teen raises questions about ambulance service

The death of a New Brunswick teen is raising questions about ambulance service in the northern part of the province.

The 14-year-old Saint-Leonard girl died in hospital Tuesday after a single-vehicle crash in Saint-Quentin last Friday.

RCMP say an ambulance was already responding to another crash in the Kedgwick area, so a second needed to be called in from outside the area and took nearly an hour to arrive.

Saint-Quentin Mayor Nicole Somers tells the Acadie Nouvelle ambulance coverage in that region is limited and that it needs to change.

Somers and other mayors in the region are expected to meet with Ambulance NB in the coming weeks to discuss the matter.
