Demolition of Bas-Caraquet church destroyed by fire begins

Demolition has begun on the charred remains of a Bas-Caraquet church destroyed by fire in June of 2018.

Several citizens gathered Tuesday afternoon to bear witness to the demolition which marks an end to efforts to save the more-than-century-old Saint-Paul church.

The church bells were removed and will be preserved along with several other historic objects.

The demolition is expected to take around two weeks to complete.
