Department of Fisheries & Oceans office re-opens in Kedgwick

Five years after it shut down, Kedwick's Department of Fisheries and Oceans office has re-opened.

Restigouche River Basin Management Board's David LeBlanc says habitat protection in the watershed area really suffered since the office closed in 2013.

The office re-opened on Thursday with a compliment of four officers;  brining the total number of officers for the Restigouche region to eight.

Kedgwick mayor Janice Savoie says the Kedgwick and Restigouche play a critical role in the local economy;  generating several jobs as well as $15 million in economic spinoffs.
