Education Minister credits community approach to education with improved Francophone math scores

New Brunswick Education Minister, Brian Kenny, says the Francophone school system's "community approach to education" helped the province's Francophone students surpass results of their Anglphone counterparts on international standardized math tests.

Though both systems still lag behind the national average, they are still above the world average.

The Bathurst-West-Beresford MLA says approaches used within the Francophone system are being shared within  Anglophone districts.

Francophone Teachers' Association president, Marc Arseneau, says some of those strategies include students teaching on-line skills to grandparents to reinforce what's learned in class as well as weekly teachers' meetings where different approaches to improve student outcomes are discussed.
