Eel River Bar First Nation man pleads not guilty in deadly hit-and-run case

A not guilty plea from an Eel River Bar First Nation man allegedly involved in a fatal hit and run collision last summer.

29-year-old Kirk Labillois was charged last month with leaving the scene of an accident involving bodily harm and leaving the scene of an accident involving death following a collision last August on Route 11.

A truck, allegedly driven by Labillois, crossed the centre line and struck a car killing the 37-year-old passenger and leaving the 18-year-old driver with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Labillois has elected trial by judge and jury.

A date for a preliminary inquiry will be set following a focus hearing scheduled for May 31st.
