Emergency response protocol would include Campbellton, Pointe-a-la-Croix, Listiguj Fist Nation
Looking out for each other is the neighbourly thing to do.
The New Brunswick community of Campbellton along with Pointe-a-la-Croix and the Listiguj Fist Nation in Quebec want to do just that when it comes to disasters or emergency situations.
Emergency agreements are already in place between the two provinces, but Pointe-a-la-Croix aims to go a step farther by implementing joint emergency response protocols with its two neighbours.
Though still in the preliminary stages, the protocol would include plans for accommodations, drinking water, fires, and road equipment.
Campbellton mayor Stephanie Anglehart-Paulin says emergencies and disasters can happen anywhere, and that it's comforting to know neighbouring communities can count on each other.
