Environmental Trust Fund applications open
The province is accepting applications for funding under the Environmental Trust Fund.
The trust fund provides assistance to community groups, organizations, First Nations, municipalities and institutions for projects that produce tangible, measurable benefits to the environment.
The Department of Environment and Local Government says the fund provided more than $8.4 million to about 225 projects last year.
The province says money for the fund comes from about half the environmental fees paid on redeemable beverage containers.
The 2019-20 priority action items are:
- protecting the environment
- increasing environmental awareness
- managing waste
- addressing climate change
- building sustainable communities
The province says submissions will be assessed based on their merit, and how they address the priority action areas.
The application deadline is November 30 and applications must be submitted online.
More information and the application form are available online.
